These (and more) are all courtesy of an artist who goes by the name Spacesick, né Mitch Ansara. He also has a flickr account, but beware: it contains a few nude artists renderings, mostly of women. You've been warned. Check out his blog for some safer, more entertaining fare.
But, I must say, are these not the coolest things you've seen today? I used to be an avid novelization reader (mostly of films my parents wouldn't let me see... For some reason they were okay with me reading inappropriate movies...), and I think I would have tried to keep them around, had they looked this awesome. But they didn't.
cheers!

No way! I totally did that too. I read novelizations of Outbreak, Preditor, The Abyss and my favorite - The Usual Suspects.
I also read the original novels for such films as Starship Troopers, Chinatown, and The Shawshank Redemption.
I read them because I couldn't see the movies. But then I was able to see the movies by either sneaking a copy of it from friends or watching them on TV (thank you cable).
Also, my mom rented me Chinatown after some guy told me I had to when I got an internship writing scripts in High School.
Okay, so this doesn't have anything to do with your post, but "Mates of State"? Great choice!
