Snore....

I fell asleep during Battleship Potemkin yesterday.
Yeah, I know...
Maybe I'm completely reading this wrong, but shouldn't I be ashamed of myself? Me, a film student, falling asleep during THE quintissential film from Soviet cinema? I see it as wrong, but I also don't seem to care that much. It was a great nap, and I was able to catch up after a long night, so I really couldn't care less. But still! A part of me is reeling from the fact that I have the ability to fall asleep during any movie you put me in front of. Any movie. Whether or not I like it or not, I'm out like a light, usually within the first 15 minutes. In the broad scheme of things, I suppose the first 15 is the best place to fall asleep, if one had to fall asleep, but there is always that "what if" factor that informs me that I could very well be missing something great.
It's been a problem for years, actually. I remember my first year of college, taking an Intro to Film class, and falling asleep during EVERY movie I watched (except two, The Apartment and Wait Until Dark, but come on! Those are impossible to sleep through!). Ever since then, I have no choice half of the time. I just fall asleep. Annoying, is the word that frequently comes to mind. I should be studying these films intensely, trying to better understand the history of cinema, etc. etc. but man!
Anyway, I think no matter how hard I try, this will always be a problem. I'm chroniclly tired, no thanks to my current lifestyle, and I fear I'll never be able to catch up (the film world requires 14 hour days for months at a time....Yeah....).
Oh well.
